Sue Stafford - Social Worker and Couples Therapist

Sue Stafford

Couples Therapist and Family Counsellor

Sue is a qualified, registered and accredited Couples Therapist with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy since 1994. Previously Sue had a career in childcare and social work and worked for over 20 years with a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team (CAMHS), where she worked in clinical and community settings directly with young people (and their carers) who were experiencing difficulties due to mental health or behavioural problems. In this context Sue also provided training, supervision and support to other professionals regarding young people experiencing mental health difficulties or challenging behaviours. Sue is also experienced in leading training around parenting issues for both professionals and parents / carers.

In private practice Sue is experienced in working with adults across a range of approaches drawn from her behavioural / systemic training at the Institute of Psychiatry and from her work with Relate. Sue also draws on her extensive working knowledge in Solution Focused, Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.

In her direct work with young people / families, Sue is flexible and approachable which enables those she works with to be heard and involved in achievable solutions.

Sue has been part of the multidisciplinary team at Heads and Heads since its conception.
